Social preferences and Kantian morality in strategic interactions: theory and experimental evidence

Abstract

This talk summarizes some recent theoretical work that suggests that a form of Kantian morality has evolutionary foundations. It also presents the results of an experimental study aimed at disentangling such Kantian morality from more standard forms of other-regarding preferences.
