Cultural transitions, the evolution of leadership and followership, decision-making cognition, social structures and hierarchies


Zachary Garfield received a B.A. with highest distinction in anthropology and psychology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2012 and completed his Ph.D. in evolutionary anthropology at Washington State University in 2019. He has conducted anthropological fieldwork in Southwest Ethiopia since 2015 and is Co-Director of the Omo Valley Research Project.
