Biography

Imil Nurutdinov was a Research Fellow at the IAST. His work seeks to illuminate the economic and political causes of differential economic growth among European societies, roughly covering the period from 1200 to 1900. The two main contexts Imil studies are late medieval and early modern (Western) Europe and the Russian Empire during the “long” nineteenth century. He constructs original historical databases and analyzes them using panel data methods and structural models. Imil received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2019.
