The Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse (IAST) will be hosting a conference “Borders and Belonging: Migration Challenges and Solutions.” This workshop is organized by the IAST Research Team on Political Economy (PE) and will take place on May 5-6, 2026.
Background
The workshop aims to gather leading quantitative social scientists whose research addresses questions at the center of public debate around migration. The workshop's panels will explore debates around how digital technologies are reshaping borders, the politically charged connection between immigration and crime, and how anxieties over demographic change shape political attitudes. A policy roundtable will connect researchers with government and NGO practitioners to identify policy challenges and collaborative research opportunities.
